Why?

This will be a more difficult blog for Mommy to type. We have spent the weekend asking "why?"  On Thursday, April 24 some of mommy and daddy's close friends lost their 5.5 month old baby girl, Lainey, ...who also has a twin sister. It was a sudden, shocking, heart wrenching day and left us all asking "why?" Why them? Why Lainey? Why would this happen to such amazing parents? Why should Baby Harley be left with no twin sister? It is so easy to say "God has a plan", "everything happens for a reason", blah blah blah....in reality..it sucks..and we don't get it.

While this is never the way lessons should be taught, it puts life in perspective. Embrace the sleepless nights, laugh at tantrums, always have time for a hug, and live in the moment. Don't spend your day wondering when your kids will hit their next milestone or outgrow this phase..embrace this day and what you get to witness today.

Keegan got to spend a lot of time with Lainey and Harley and talks about them a lot. Which leaves mommy wondering...next time we visit...Keegan will ask "where is Lainey?" How do you explain that to a 3 year old who only knows joy in life....

There has been happiness and joy since our last blog, and we will prove it with photos, however we decided to start the photo bomb with a few pictures of Lainey so everyone can witness the beautiful, sweet, angel who was taken too early..

We ask everyone to pray for the family.

On to more joyful news. Keegan did manage to have some fun this weekend and earlier in the week. The weather has been gorgeous and he has been busy! He started the week off with Mommy taking the day off and just hanging out together. We ran errands, went to the park, had a play date with Ali, and went out for a special treat.

Enjoying a treat outside!

Having a popsicle break with Ali

This weekend Keegan got to go to Ali's 3rd birthday party, help Mommy plant flowers, and pretty much spent the entire weekend outside playing.

Since the weather has been nice, supper has been on the grill 80% of the time! Keegan helped Mommy sautee some green beans to go with the grill grub!

Being the professional shopper that he is, it is only fitting he have his own cart

Excuse the Santa pajamas and tennis shoes in the 70 degree weather....didn't stop him from planting a blueberry plant!

Later (after we coaxed him out of pj's) he scored his own watering can and is OBSESSED with with watering flowers now

Listening to instructions at Ali's birthday party, which was at "build a bear"

Getting his bear stuffed...he named him "cookie"

They had a station where they could give their bears a bath!

All the kiddos outside build a bear

                          Everyone's favorite..cupcake time!

After a busy day we decided on dinner at Chipotle and this kid passed out in the car on the way home...and for the first time EVER stayed asleep as we took him inside and put him in bed..gotta love outdoors and birthday parties!

Keegan had an unexpected visit from Kynnedy and loved having her over to play..teaching her lovely things

Phew! Sadly the weekend is over and another week is ready to start. But that means we are 1 week closer to meeting Baby Cooper! Keegan helped Mommy sort through baby clothes, wash and fold today and is getting more excited by the day to meet little Coop!

Happy Easter!

Keegan is finally done celebrating Easter 2014. It is safe to say this is his new favorite holiday. He began his holiday last weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's in Iowa where he scored a sweet Spiderman Easter basket with the Frozen DVD, puzzles, and candy. He then went on an Easter egg hunt at day care which is where he really realized the fun to be had. On the way home that day he said "I wish I could have an Easter egg hunt every day", he spotted eggs decorating a bush and yelled "stop the car! there are eggs in that bush I need to get!", and several other funny one liners. Anyway, the holiday ended this weekend at Nana and GG's where he managed 2 Easter egg hunts and and unGodly amount of candy. Pictures are in no particular order as they were uploaded from the phone!

The eyes say it all "candy coma". This is his last Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday

Keegan loved him some Aunt Megan and Uncle Ethan time...although Mommy did hear a few "Megan's the best!"....no offense Uncle Ethan!

Family photo...crazy that next year Baby Cooper will be in his Sunday best, too!

Finding out what the Easter bunny brought..Spiderman sandals and new socks! (Keegan has been begging for new socks for weeks)

Playing cards and helping GG...the funny one liner from this evening was "why is GG taking off my pants?!"..but you definitely had to be there

Had gorgeous weather and Keegan took full advantage

After the community egg hunt in Salina...Keegan managed to get  "2nd prize egg" and got a huge extra basket with bubbles, other toys, and of course more candy

2nd prize basket

No way we can be at a park and not climb something!

After he dominated all the eggs in his age group he took off...Daddy chased him only to find out he was headed towards the other ages to "help" them find the eggs!

Ready...set...go!

How can this not melt your heart in every way possible?? Nothing better then a sparkly eyed happy boy!

Mommy feels so oober blessed it ain't even funny sometimes!

Last weekend helping Grandma make pancakes

Random warm night that Keegan and Daddy got out water guns

Komp Family Easter 2014

Wowza that was alotta pictures! Keegan has been having a fantastic time lately and will continue the fun next weekend at his friend Ali's birthday party at build a bear! In Cooper news, he is a little over 25 weeks old and is a kicker and flipper! Mommy had forgotten how awesome it is to feel the little kicks all day long! So far this pregnancy is a dream (after the few weeks of feeling like complete crap of course) and things are going great! Hard to believe in less then 15 weeks we will be a family of 4!

OH! And Happy Birthday to Grandma F tomorrow...we all know there is no way there will a blog 2 days in a row so Happy Early Birthday!

Spring is in the Air!

Spring is in the air which is probably the reason for the lack of blogs...that or pure procastination. Either way. Here is a new blog of Keegan's last few weeks.

Keegan got to hang out with his old pals, Faith and Charity. We love getting together with them as Keegan never misses a beat and it's like they never moved!

Keegan wastes no time in getting outside when he sees even the slightest sign of sun...currently playing soccer and "catch" with his new ball and glove are favorites

We went out to dinner with some friends a few weekends ago and they gave kids "kid friendly chopsticks" with their meals...Keegan ate an entire plate of lo mein with them!

"What do you want to do today?" "Go to the park!" is always the first answer

We even splurged for a picnic!

Keegan had to be a brave boy for some blood work at the doctor so Mommy surprised him with a new Spiderman hat--he was SO excited!

And thus concludes the fascinating life of Keegan. The start of age 3 was proving to be a whole different ball game then age 2 (which mommy continuously raved about how great age 2 was). While we are sure 3 will continue to be challenging, it has "tamed down" a bit in the tantrum category (which we are thankful for). Tune in soon for an update on Mommy and Keegan's weekend to Grandma and Grandpa's!
